I look forward to working with everyone on “Charlotte’s Web.” Depending on the number of students who try out, I may, like last year, double cast some roles, and add a Saturday matinee, so everyone performs at least twice. If so, you’ll know this before the first read through on March 2.
The tryouts are Monday Feb 13 and Thursday Feb 16, from 2:30 – 4:30. It is best that students show up for both days, but if you have a conflict, please email me ahead of time (some students have already done so).
I recommend looking through the script ahead of time, as you will have a better tryout if you are familiar with the script beforehand. Script sides that will be used at the tryouts are:
pp. 5-6 (until Third Member: “…that’s all you need to know.”)
pp. 18-19 (Wilbur and Charlotte)
pp. 37 (Homer: “Make room…”) to pp. 38 (Arable: “Sounds good, Edith.”)
Email me if you have any questions.
The cast list for Reigning Cats & Dogs! has been announced – see it here!
From Mr. Bergman:
Thank you to everyone for your great work at the tryouts! Everyone should be at rehearsal on this coming Monday at 2:30.
Scripts will be available online over the weekend [Ed. available here] – please print it out, and put it in a folder for the first rehearsal. Sheet music and audio recordings will also become available over the weekend.
I will be assigning who is in what songs next week.
The rehearsal schedule will be online by Monday’s rehearsal.
Email Mr. Bergman with any other questions or concerns.
I hope you are all getting excited about “Reigning Cats & Dogs!” Here is the information for the tryouts – everybody will be asked to sing one of these:
– If you interested in a featured role of any kind, you should learn the first three pages of “Purr-fect!” The sheet music, as well as a recording of the song, are available here. You do NOT have to have the song memorized, but you should be prepared to sing the song by yourself.
– If you are only interested in an ensemble role, you can sing “My Country Tis Of Thee.” For this excerpt, you can sing with a friend if you want.
There will also be a small dance to learn (for both boys AND girls). It will be taught at the tryouts. This is only to see how comfortable you are with dance / movement. So wear comfortable shoes.
Email me with any questions.
